I've never read anything like it before, and I found myself nodding along in agreement on page after page. She has provided us with a gem! I'm so glad people will have a resource for eating well without going in the red. I know I'll be using her book for feeding my own family well and for managing our finances."

Tsh Oxenreider, Simple Mom

"Real Food on a Real Budget - How to Eat Healthy for Less is a life saver. I've been doing real food for almost a year, and my grocery budget is out of control.  By implementing Stephanie's practical tips on how to compare prices, plan meals, and make more from scratch, I am well on my way to getting my grocery budget under control.  I highly recommend this book for anyone who wants to eat real food without breaking the bank."

"I thought I had real food budgeting and frugality figured out. I was wrong! From Stephanie's wise and balanced approach to eating healthfully on a budget, I have learned some things I can put into practice right away to reduce my family's food budget. Her money-saving ideas and practices don't sacrifice good health or good food. She successfully takes on the challenge of eating real food on a budget, and shares countless examples of how it really can be done. She doesn't promote one specific nutritional thought over another, but instead speaks clearly, simply, and helpfully to all who "esteem whole foods, real foods, healthier foods." I highly recommend Stephanie's book."

I'm as frugal as you are, and am very proactive about getting my money's worth on everything I buy.  Because you're here, I know that you are the same way.

Real Food on a Real Budget is a compilation of years of practical study, took almost a full year to write, and is jam-packed with ideas on how to save money and eat better.  By utilizing even just a handful of the recommendations I have no doubt that you will be able to save hundreds of dollars over the course of a year, or even in just a month or two (if you're as gung-ho as I am), without having to compromise on foods that won't nourish you or your family.  That said - if for any reason you're not happy with either the paperback or the digital copy, all you have to do is return the book and email me for a full refund, no questions asked.

Hi I was on here last week and your ebook was 50%off for the month of November I was waiting for payday and now it looks like that is over?I begged hubby to get it and I saved the money for the discounted amount – was I wrong about it or was it a limited time only?

@Diana McBride, Oh, it was actually for the month of October and the sale ran into the beginning of November (it went along with the recent meal planning challenge that ended Nov.7), BUT there is a code starting tomorrow, good through Sunday night, for 50% off. It’s BLACKFRIDAY. Enjoy! :)

I was interested in your Real Food book and clicked through the link at the top of your site advertising 50% off. When I tried the code, I received a message that it expired.

@Caren, You’re right, I didn’t take the link down before it expired. I’ve extended the code for a few days, for those still wanting to go ahead and get it at the sale price. The code is still MEALPLAN50, so please go ahead and use it. :)

I would like to purchase both of your books (not in digital form). Is there a discount on shipping by doing this?

@Tanya Fruth, When you add both books to your shopping cart at once, the cost of shipping will be discounted once you get to checkout. I tried it with two books and it came to just over $5 instead of $7.98 like it would if you added the two individual shipping costs together.

Does “Real Food on a Real Budget” contain recipes?

    Reply

Stephanie @ Keeper of the Home November 2, 2010 at 9:05 pm

@Robin, No, it isn’t a recipe book. The focus is entirely on techniques for saving money, both through how you cook and function in the kitchen, as well as how and where you buy your food (but it doesn’t refer to specific stores- it’s meant for anyone living anywhere). It’s very much a how-to-save book that anyone can apply to how they eat and the specifics of their circumstances.

If I buy the paperback copy, would I still get the Healthy Homemaking eBook for free? Just am trying to minimize eye strain on the computer screen so the paperback would be better. Thanks!

@Joy, Sure, if you email and let me know that you did that. I don’t have an automatic way of knowing that you purchased it to send you the book, but if you email and explain that I can do that. :)

Are these eBooks available in a format for Kindle or iPad? I just ordered both and realized they’re in pdf format. Any suggestions? Looking forward to reading them and helping my family.

Would this be helpful if I don’t live in the States? I’m from NZ so quite different with food, prices, shopping options, etc. TIA :)

@Simple Homekeeping, Yes, it still would be. I am actually Canadian and I didn’t write it based on living in any one particular place. It’s more techniques and overall strategies that are intended to help no matter where you live, what your family size is, if you have special diets, etc. :)
