8 Simple Ways to Live More Toxin-Free This Spring

I hope that this month of Spring Clean the Toxins has encouraged you with just how simple it can be to begin removing toxins from your life!

Today you can find me sharing over at Simple Homemade, with 8 ways to take out even more toxins this spring:

Spring is finally upon us.

This is the perfect time of year to pursue a greener and more natural way of living. With the warmer weather, however, there are also hidden toxins in various products and practices that we would do well to avoid.

If you’ve been contemplating moving towards a more natural lifestyle, or slowly working through small changes in that direction, here are 8 simple ways that spring offers a perfect opportunity to practice wholesome, healthy, non-toxic living:

1. Bye-bye bugs

Most insect repellents include DEET in their ingredients (among others), a nasty chemical which is extremely poisonous and remains on (and ultimately, in) our skin long after we spray it.

That doesn’t have to keep you indoors, though. Essential oils like citronella, cedarwood, lavender and cinnamon are effective at keeping the bugs at bay, but are non-toxic and safe enough to be used even on children.

How has the “Spring Cleaning” been going for you, as far as removing toxins and making small changes? Any victories you would like to share? Or goals that you’re working towards?

Are you or your family struggling with health challenges? Is it time to make some changes? Maybe you already know that you WANT to do things differently in your home -- use better products, buy real, wholesome foods, prepare more from-scratch meals, even use home remedies instead of medication when you're sick. But do you have all the tools you need to make it happen?

That's why we created the Ultimate Healthy Living Bundle. We spent months searching for the very best, most practical healthy living resources we could find, like real food recipes (we have some for gluten & grain free, too), DIY tutorials for home and beauty, solid nutrition information, home remedies, essential oil courses and books, workouts for moms, meal planning help and more. The entire package is worth over $1000, but our whole goal is to make it totally affordable for anyone. At just $30, it's cheaper than a doctor's visit, filling a prescription, or even eating dinner as a family out at a restaurant!

To make it more of a no-brainer, we partnered up with 10 natural living sponsors who are offering you over $200 in free bonuses that you can redeem, just because you bought a bundle. And to say a special "thank you!" to my readers who buy through this site, I've got an extra special webinar that I want to invite you to.

The one catch? It's available for just 2 MORE DAYS (ends 11:59pm Monday, Sept.15th). So you don't to wait! Click here to learn more about what's in this year's phenomenal package and then pick one up for yourself. You'll be glad you did!

  1. I use Shaklee Get Clean products. I tried some of the homemade laundry detergent, but I was allergic to it. I like how the products are non-toxic and I reuse the bottles.
I recently made the commitment to no more water bottles! I have purchased some glass and stainless steel bottles. I didn’t make the commitment for just the BPA reasons, but also because oil is used to make the plastic bottles and I have seen too many documentaries on how water bottle compaines are stealing the water from 3rd world countries.
    I also love farmer’s markets!

  2. I started using magnesium oil, which has reduced my body odor to the point that I am trying natural deodorant :). I picked up Toms to try, and it’s been working so far!

I also need to start wearing makeup (new job), and I checked the ingredients against the Cosmetics database :)

  3. Great list! I just purchased some citronella and lemongrass essential oils to make my own bug spray! (I already had the other oils I needed.) I used a natural brand last summer (CJ’s Butter), but I’m really excited to try making my own! Next on the list–sunscreen!
