3 Simple Mother’s Day Gift Ideas

Mother’s Day is fast approaching on May 13th. Are you looking for some gift ideas?

Here are three simple ideas to bless the moms in your life:

1. Pure Lotion Bars

These bars from MadeOn Skin Care are my personal favorites for dry feet and hands (they work on lips, too, in a pinch). I’ve given them several times as gifts and they always receive a warm reception.

You can purchase them in gift packs (in either original Bee Silk, or in Au Chocolat). Another option is to make them yourself, which makes them even more special. My daughter and I had a blast doing this together last year.

Also, Renee from MadeOn is currently running a giveaway of 10 Mother’s Day gift packages! Each one contains two lotion bars, a lip balm and a coffee soap (for removing kitchen smells from hands). Get entered to win here, before the cutoff date of April 30, 2012.

2. Dayspring Home Decor

When I first heard about this Christian line of home decor, I was pretty skeptical. Most of what I see in Christian bookstores in tacky and of cheap quality.

At the Relevant Conference two years ago, I finally saw Dayspring home decor in real life, as they were the sponsor for the Relevant lounge. I was truly impressed. These products are beautiful, tasteful and inspiring, and I wish I owned more of them. I have a lovely bowl from their Ever Grateful line that sits on my dining room table and I just love it.

I think that almost any mom would be blessed by something from Dayspring. For Mother’s Day, they are offering 30% off their 12 bestselling gift items with the code MD30off.

3. Make Your Own

These are posts from Christmas time, but I’ll link back to them anyways because most of the ideas would work for any season:

  1. Hi Stephanie

Great post and thanks for the links to other resources at the end. They’re really useful.

In case you are interested, I recently published a post titled “Top 10 Homemade Beauty Gifts To Give This Mother’s Day”.

    You can see it at:

    Thanks,
    Daisy

  2. I love the idea of kids making their own gifts for mom. Usually with a little help from dad. Last year my kids gave me colored pictures from http://www.thecolor.com/Category/Coloring/Mothers%20Day.aspx?holiday and their dad helped them make a frame for it. Wonderful gift.

  3. On my own list this year is the anti-aging kit from Apothederm http://apothederm.com/shop-products/anti-aging/anti-aging-system-kit/
I have tried the cleanser and can’t wait to try out the rest of the line!

  4. Stephanie,
Have you had any experience or done any research on the refined Shea butter v. unrefined Shea butter? I noticed in MadeOn’s kit that they sell refined Shea butter, but other sources say that the refined is bleached and stripped of most of it healing properties. BUT…the unrefined has a definite ash smell. Any thoughts?

  5. Thanks for sharing!

I love anything skincare-related, and the MadeOn products seem really cool!

  6. Oh I have no idea what I’ll be getting my mom! Thanks for the reminder! Making lotion bars sounds like fun!

  7. The Ever Grateful pitcher is only $6 with the coupon code! Of course shipping is just as much, but still a great deal. :) Thanks for the code and ideas!

  8. I ordered MadeOn Lotion for my mom & MIL. Plus some for me too, because DS it too little to do an on-line order himself. :)

  9. I love your blog. I especially enjoy the idea of simplicity since we moved to China and have no choice but to live simply. Other options aren’t available anymore… and honestly, I think it’s great!

I also have a big special going on for Mother’s Day on my hand-drawn portraits. What better gift for a mother than a keepsake drawing of her children? =)

  10. Great list! The Dayspring stuff is so pretty. I’d be tickled pink with some of that on Mother’s Day. :-)

  11. Great ideas! I’m ordering both my mother and my mother-in-law something from Dayspring. Thank you for the coupon code!
