I love writing at Keeper of the Home. It has been a delight for me to be able to share daily these past (almost) 3 years, on topics like natural living, nutrition and real food, faith, gentle mothering, homemaking and more.
It has been a surprising joy to establish this ministry of encouraging and building up women in their roles as homemakers, with a solid Biblical perspective and a mind towards good and faithful stewardship of our bodies, our resources, our time and God's beautiful Creation.
As the years have gone on, my own family and home have changed and grown. The Lord has added to our little brood (and we hope will continue to add to it!), we have begun more active homeschooling as our children grow older, we have become full-time entrepreneurs with a family business (including a new website, Saving Naturally), and our home is ever bustling with homestay students, church gatherings and more.
Needless to say, life is busy! And although I adore the writing work that I do at Keeper of the Home, I simply can't do it alone!
Join the team at Keeper of the Home
This spring I was blessed to be able to add 6 AMAZING women who serve as regular contributing writers (although we are sadly losing Angela-- we'll miss you!). I am so grateful to have them, and the special and unique perspectives that they bring to you each Wednesday!
Now I am looking for more women who would like to join the team! I have 6 positions available for regular writers who will write somewhere between once a month and once every 6 weeks.
Criteria for Contributing Writers:
1. An active Christian faith and a strong Biblical worldview.
(Note: I do sometimes take guest posts from those who are not Christians and I have no problem doing this. I receive many wonderful posts from some incredible and very knowledgeable ladies this way! However, since the Biblical worldview is important to the way that I share about the topics covered on this blog, for my regular writers it is important to me that they be coming from a similar perspective as I am).
2. A love for homemaking, natural living, real and traditional foods, and good stewardship practices!
This is the heart of my message, and so it is crucial that my writers also have a passion for these topics. I do not expect all of my writers to be experts on these topics or to be especially advanced in how they implement natural living and good nutrition in their lives, only that they be actively pursuing these things. I currently have writers that range from taking lots of baby steps to being very experienced and knowledgeable, and I LOVE the different perspectives that they all bring!
3. Excellent writing and self-editing skills.
On my blog, I endeavor to post only high-quality articles, well-written and engaging, with attention paid to grammar, spelling, ease of reading, etc. To keep up this quality, I need writers committed to pursuing excellence in what and how they write, and who take care to edit their work carefully.
This keeps Keeper of the Home top-notch and makes being a contributing writer here of more value to you, as well!
I am now accepting applications to fill these contributing writer positions.
To apply (and relax... it's a very simple process!), please complete this survey below.
Complete the Keeper of the Home Writer's Application here!
I will be accepting surveys until August 15th and will begin contacting potential writers within the next two weeks or so.

Hi Stephanie, I only just stumbled across your blog and I think it's great! I know this is WAY past your "due" date, but I see that you have 11 contributers and mentioned above that you had 12 spots open...so I am wondering if you are still by chance looking for one more?
I have a fairly newly started website called courageoushomekeeping.com and a couple friends and I are writing about Biblical womanhood, parenting and homemaking and everything that encompasses. I would totally love it if you came to check it out to see if it might be something you'd like as a guest poster on your blog. Here is a most recent post by me:

@Kristi, Thanks so much for the offer, Kristi. It seems that the number I have is perfect for now, but should I need more I will certainly make it known and would love to have you apply! Blessings on your new site! :)
Thanks for opening up this opportunity! I just found your blog yesterday (via a link from another blog) and so much of what you write about is stuff I completely relate to. I think it is wise to add writers, as I now know how time consuming it can be to write frequently and regularly.
Is this a paid position?
@Amber, No, it isn't. All contributing writing positions are volunteer.
The reason that most people choose to take writing positions like this are:
1) Because they just enjoy writing and want an outlet to do so.
2) To gain exposure to a large blog audience and to send traffic to their own blog or website.
I'm sure there are other reasons, but these are the two most common.
In fact, I serve as a contributing writer on another site (SimpleOrganic.net) without pay, and I do it in order to continue to improve my skills as a writer, working with a very professional blog and media team, and because of the excellent traffic that I and my blog are exposed to.
I can see where Shiela and Sherri are coming from. I also feel similar in many ways. (Even though I am going to be doing some writing for the blog I feel that way too). But I also see your (Stephanie's) comment above in reply to Sheila and knew those reasons and that makes sense too. Maybe there is something that can be done to make people feel that they know the other writers better. I'm not sure what. If I think of something, I'll let you know....maybe someone else also has ideas on how to find a balance with it. I can understand it would be a difficult situation in many ways. But there are also pluses to have other women contributing as it brings different ideas and perspectives and talents to the blog that one person alone would not have.
@Nola, That's one of the things that I want to do-- help my readers to really get to know the contributing writers better!
I feel the same as Sheila. I've come to love reading what YOU have to say and don't feel the need to have something everyday. Even just once a week is plenty to ponder and research about what you've written about. The others view have been nice too but I do get confused about who's writing what.
Hi,
I've enjoyed your blog for a long time. It seems like so many blogs now are seeking other writers to fill in so that the blogs will have more content. Can I just say that for myself, I would rather have far less content written by only you? When a blog has multiple authors, it's so hard to feel that you know anyone. For me personally, part of enjoying a blog is getting to know someone (in a vitual sense, I guess). This isn't a criticism of any of the other writers in any way at all. Just a personal preference that a blog of this kind belong to one person. I have no idea if others feel the way I do or not. Every time I read something, I think 'And who is this one?', and I read their little bio, but then the next time it's someone else, and I don't know who they are either. Again, this is just my experience. I may be 'unique' or just plain weird. :)
Blessings!
@Sheila, Thanks for sharing your thoughts, Sheila! I absolutely can understand where you're coming from and why you'd like to just see writing from one author. Though I would love to keep it that way, there are other factors that I need to consider as well, including the fact that my blog is a business that brings in income which is a real blessing to our family. With only my content, I simply cannot keep the writing frequent enough to keep up the necessary traffic.
I will also say that I have come to enjoy having other women share on my blog, after almost 3 years of writing. Though I still never cease to have things that I want to write about, I am now more and more aware of how much I can learn from others, and how many unique ways there are to do things around the home, and with natural living and healthy cooking in particular. So I really value being able to share those different perspectives and not put myself out there as being the expert on these topics (because I'm definitely not!).
Because it is important to me that my readers can connect personally, I will continue to write myself as often as I can (and to try to share from our own family life as much as possible). But I am also seeking regular writers, as opposed to a bunch of random writers, because this allows my readers to get to know these regular writers more and begin to connect with them as well!
Stephanie~
When I first saw this my heart sank because I thought you were signing off! I am so thankful that is not the case. I completely understand that you are in a very busy season of life and have quite a few balls to keep in the air. But, I am so thankful that you will continue on with this blog. It has been such a blessing to me and I always look forward to a new post. Thanks for everything you do!!
Hi Stephanie,
At the risk of seeming completely clueless, I need to ask...
On the application form, under "Writing Examples," do you want a sample of our writing there or a link to something we have written? Or both?
Thanks!
@Stacy @ Delighting in the Days, Just a link to something you've written! No need to write a mini-essay on my behalf! :)
@Stephanie @ Keeper of the Home, Thanks!
