Since returning from Blissdom, my head continues to absolutely swirl with thoughts and ideas. A couple of really good things that came out of the conference for me were a truly renewed desire to be a better blogger who serves the loyal and incredible community that exists here at Keeper of the Home. The second is the recognition that to do that, while continuing to keep my family my absolute #1 priority, is that I need some help to do it.
I am currently looking for contributing writers for Keeper of the Home. I will be cutting my own posting schedule down to 4 days a week, and have decided to open my blog up for some amazing ladies to contribute on a wide variety of topics that this blog usually touches on. Not only will this allow me to continue to run my site well and focus my available time on what I love doing, but it will add some other valuable perspectives, experiences and knowledge to the writing that I already do myself.
What's in it for you? Writing for another site is an excellent way to expose yourself to a new audience, increase your traffic and develop stronger working relationships with other bloggers!
So what am I looking for in a contributing writer?
The commitment can range anywhere from once a month, up to once every 3 months. I will also take contributions from one-time only guest posters. Topics I'm most interested in include:
- Real/Traditional/Nourishing foods (nutrition topics, as well as recipes)
- Kitchen tips and techniques (related to real food)
- Simplicity and sustainable living topics
- Frugality (mostly as it relates to real food and simple/sustainable living)
- Home remedies, herbs, homeopathics
- Gardening and raising your own food (ie. backyard chickens)
- Infant and child care (with a focus on natural mothering and products)
- Homemaking and home management (from a more natural perspective)
- Good stewardship/Natural living from a Christian perspective
- Food preserving (canning, dehydrating, root cellars)
If you have topics in mind that don't quite fit in, just ask me and I'll let you know what I think. I am in the process of creating an editorial calendar which will include a couple of specific topics for each month over the course of the next year, so I will slot in writers/topics according to my calendar and this will give writers some direction in knowing what to write about as well.
Please email me at stephanie (at) keeperofthehome (dot) org if you're interested. I will send you a short document with guidelines for contributing writers over the next several days. Nothing fancy or extensive, just explaining the way it works and what I'm looking for. I think you'll find that I'm easy going to work with, and I would love to have you join the team at Keeper of the Home!
And a survey...
As well, I have a short readers survey that I would LOVE to have you fill out. It will take no more than 2 minutes of your time, I promise. It's a way for me to know what you like and want to see more of at Keeper of the Home in the coming months, as I set some goals and make plans for topics, reviews and giveaways, etc. It's easy to just write about what I'm interested in, but I also want to make sure that I'm listening to what you want to read about!
As a thank you for filling out the survey, I will enter your name in a draw that will happen in 48 hours, for a package of luscious, organic, loose leaf-filled, pyramid bags of herbal tea! Choice Organic Teas generously allowed me to bring a huge bag of tea samples to Blissdom, and I have some extras that I would like to bless someone with! I have tried both flavors multiple times, and they are simply wonderful. I can't decide which is my favorite: Chamomile Citrus (a perky and intriguing version of soothing and relaxing chamomile) or Sweet Licorice Mint (not usually a licorice fan myself, but yet this mostly-minty flavored tea is so refreshing and delightful!). You'll get to try both!
Take the survey now!
To be entered for the draw, make sure that you leave me a comment letting me know that you've completed a survey (this allows me to keep the survey confidential).
And for an extra entry to earn some yummy tea, would you consider taking my husband's 15-second survey (his words, not mine- he made it to be super short and sweet)?
Take my hubby's 15-second survey!
If you just took the 2nd survey, for Resound School, make sure you leave me another comment letting me know that you did so! Ryan thanks you and so do I (because don't we all want to help make our husband's successful?).
Thanks for taking the surveys! You can still take them if you like, although the tea giveaway has now ended.
