Family Update

Thank you all for your kind words and your prayers! I put out a tweet on Thursday saying that my husband had been released from the hospital Wednesday evening, but there simply hasn’t been time for a blog post until now and I’m sure many of you have been waiting for an update.

Ryan is doing much better, though the health issue remains and no diagnosis was made or treatment given. We are pursuing his health further through alternative methods only, since conventional medicine does not seem to have anything to offer us in this regard. The doctors do not know what is wrong and claim that there is really nothing wrong, since they can’t diagnosis it through their standard medical tests. We beg to differ, as there is most certainly something physically wrong that is not going away! However, we have much peace about it as we continue to trust God for His healing and grace in this situation, and we are just asking Him for direction and guidance as we pursue more natural avenues for understanding what is wrong and how to treat it. This is our usual inclination in times of illness anyways, but we felt this had gotten to a point of seriousness where we were willing to give conventional medicine a try. Well, at least we gave it a try, right? Back to looking at it from a wholistic point of view!

Our lives have continued to be a bit hectic since Ryan’s return home from the hospital. Ryan’s father’s wife, whom I mentioned was in a battle with brain cancer, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday afternoon. We spent Thursday morning searching for a flight, then the afternoon driving Ryan to the Sea-Tac airport so that he can go be with his father and attend the funeral in Florida. The children and myself are staying with my parents-in-law in Seattle until Monday afternoon, when we will pick Ryan up and head back home to Canada.

We are all doing well in general. Abbie and I had the flu for several days, and the timing was difficult with all else that was going on, but God was faithful to sustain us and allow me to get done all that needed to be done. Thankfully the littlest ones didn’t catch the flu from us. I am enjoying a few days of being able to rest a bit more, under the care of my wonderful mother-in-law, as I regain my physical strength and energy from all that has happened in the past couple weeks. I look forward to being home and back to blogging early next week, but for now, my focus is on recuperation and providing stability for my kids.

Again, thank you for your kindness and prayers! What a blessed woman I am! :)

  1. Reading your positive attitude in light of everything going on in your life is encouraging. Maybe “positive attitude” isn’t the right phrase…it gets overused a lot. But you manage to take a step back and look at the bigger picture, giving thanks in all things and it makes one pause and do the same. Thanks.

  2. So ar behind on my reading! I will keep you all in prayer & hope for a speedy recovery

  3. I hope you get some answers from the natural health community. My husband had ongoing pain that, while not life-threatening, interfered a lot with our life. No doctor or specialist could help him. Over time, a healthier diet, our chiropractor, nutritionist, and acupuncturist have helped him heal for real. I don’t think much of the mainstream medical community though. Hope he gets better soon!

    Stephanie,
I’m so sorry for all you have been going through. I’m a new follower and just wanted to tell you that I’ve been very encouraged by your posts. Thank you for sharing your story w/ us all.
I also wanted to tell you about a natural supplement that changed my life. I used to have Chron’s disease and had to be very careful what I ate. I was in the hospital pretty frequently when my husband and I were first married. Then a friend told me about this supplement called Mannatech. It’s made from REAL food. It changed my life. If you want to know more about it just shoot me an email and I’d be happy to tell you more about it. If not, know that your family is in my prayers and I will continue to follow your story.

For the glory of my King,

    Kristianna

Your blog is a peaceful one and I have enjoyed coming over to gander these past several weeks, thank you for being raw and honest of your lifes heart aches but even more thank you for being raw and honest to the love and faith you have in the Savior

  8. Stephanie,

I am so sorry to hear of all the trials that your family has been faced with recently. I will pray for Ryan’s father and that his family will find comfort and peace with the loss of his wife. I will also pray that Ryan’s health improves and that it will be revealed to you what is going on with his body and how to treat it. And of course I will pray for your continued health and strength that you may continue to help your husband, family and children with their needs.

    Blessings to you!!

Stephanie, I’m guessing that you already have an alternative medicine Dr. that you trust, but if you’re looking for a second opinion doc, and since you have ties to the Seattle area, Dr. David Wood is my alternative medicine doc. He and his wife Cheryl own Trinity Family Clinic in Lynnwood, WA and are very, very close to the Alderwood Mall. They are Christians and pray for their patients every morning before they start the day. I have been seeing Dr. Dave since my cancer diagnosis with the goal of protecting my immunity system. I did do radiation and chemo, but Dr. Dave kind of took care of “the rest of my body.” Dr. Dave encouraged me to go with radiation and chemo (I’ve had alternative docs have the attitude that you don’t need conventional medicine anymore, which I don’t agree with–I think we need both of them–together, not separate like they are) as he says the alternative realm hasn’t proven to him yet that they can do as well as the conventional (my words from what I remember at my appointments). Anyways, his integrity was high and he cared about my healing and I didn’t have to go in for appointments every 4 weeks, I see Dr. Dave every 6 months. I don’t know if this is something that you can even consider or not, but I wanted to pass it along. I will continue to pray for your family.

  13. Hey, I have another website for you to check out too. Knowthecause.com This guy (Doug) has a TV show everyday about healthy eating. You can watch the show online and he has done some webcast that are very informative. He believes a lot of our illness comes from fungus (even cancer!) There are even testimonials of people having cancer and being told there was nothing that could be done and these people started following the “phase 1″ diet and they were completely cured! He is not out to make money, just help people get well and stay well. I have been following his plan for about a year and I feel so much better, so I thought I would mention it. Hope it helps

  14. Will definitely continue to pray but I’d like to share this website with you as well. I think it could be a big help to you and your family. This woman basically has proven we just need to get our bodies back into balance nutritionally and then they can heal themselves. http://www.healingnaturallybybee.com/

  15. God is good. Let your MIL take care of you in this short time. Rest up and heal. God will carry you thru all this. I’m praying for you.
