  1. Thanks for sharing this recipe – I’d heard of the idea before but wasn’t sure how to make it. I made this the other day because my son was losing sleep and my head was aching from the sound of his persistent cough. He was worn out from it and barely got 2 mins break between coughing fits. This syrup worked like a dream. First 1tsp dose and an hour later his cough had lessened. 2hours later (no second dose) and the quality of the cough changed to a softer, wetter one. The next day he was able to go back to school and has gotten better every day with only 4 doses daily. I didn’t have any ‘fancy’ honey in the house and none of those wonderful herbs but I added about 1/2 tsp each of grated garlic and ginger, a small pinch of cinnamon powder and a whole clove. I hate the smell of honey but this smells great and my son (nearly 6yrs) LOVES it. Even my 2 1/2 yr old was willing to try it and has kept from coughing so far.
