THIS is what I want my perspective to be - biblically based rather than pharisaical. I struggle with the stress, the financial choices, even the judgement of others.
I have seen this firsthand affect my life. Last January, I put 2 of my kids on an allergen free rotation diet as well as trying to maintain my Nourishing Traditions type diet. I was SOOOOO stressed out by all the things you posted about that I broke out 3 months later with a SEVERE form of psoriasis (something I've had only a bit of until then). I am convinced that I was not working for the glory of God and allowed stress to affect my family and body - all under the guise of trying to be a better steward of the body/family that God gave me.
I guess we are all working for a better balance now - but with our eyes on God! Seriously, your words say it all here - I was so glad to read this!
Blessings!

AWESOME post! Wonderfully put - exactly what has been on my mind recently. It is the best thing that I have ever read on nutrition because it focuses on the Lord and not on ourselves.

Thanks for this post. This is what I have been struggling with for the past year and I just keep reminding myself that I live in a fallen world and that I cannot hide from everything but finding the right balance within my budget and my husband's approval is hard. I suppose it is just like everything else...if you dwell on it too much, all we see is a losing battle. Your post was very encouraging and I am going to print it out and enjoy it again when I have some quiet time.
Enjoy your family time!

I often get discouraged we can't do everything that I want to do. (Such as buying all organic, or the very best and latest safer product etc.) This post has encouraged me.
I often try to rest in the knowledge that if I am doing the best I can, that God is in control and although that doesn't mean I do nothing, it means the rest is left to Him. Now I have another thought to think about because of this post as well. Thank you.

thank you for such an excellent perspective that focuses on God. I have been reading along with you for a bit and enjoy learning from you and just seeing how other people live. My husband and I are expecting our first in December and I wanted to use cloth diapers (even though after much research it still overwhelmed me a bit); after adding up cost saving and sharing facts about minimal waste, my husband was still wanting to use disposables...along with getting a diaper genie. I'm a frugal chic and paying $5 for a canister to go in a diaper pail per couple hundred diapers does not excite me. Also, those little things just add to the waste. Inside I did NOT want to do this and I shared my views with my husband, but just as you stated in your post, submission to my husband, joyfully and willingly is most important and God honoring (after I've shared my views and he's considered, the final decision rests with him). It surely might pain me at times to throw so many diapers away...being ever reminded of how I am adding to the waste problem in our country, BUT, I would rather joyfully celebrate our child with my husband and trust him completely. He did say we could try cloth diapers after the baby was born - just to give them a whirl. I praise God for a hubby who values and considers all my thoughts. He does great at helping me be his helpmate :)

Thank you so much for this post! My husband doesn't really like our cloth diapers, but says he isn't the one changing them!! We can't afford organic either. He is on board with healthier eating, as long as we occasionally have the "junk food" too!

I was so happy to read this, realizing that I am not the only one struggling with this!!
